Hello artists,

I thought I should introduce myself. Some of you may know me and others may not.

I'm Zaza, a.k.a. szaza or Samantha— but not Sam! I will be your friendly neighbourhood Exchange Moderator. What does this mean? From time to time I will be performing a pulse check to see how your progress is going. Do you need some encouragement? Do hoarders need hounding? I will also pull the plug if you feel your exchange needs to go gently into that good night. If you have issues that need resolving, I am here to help in any way I can— please don't hesitate to ask, even if it's a question about watercolour versus gouache!

Marty, your latest entry is fabulous. I must admit pigs frighten me a little and a 1450 lb hog is the stuff of my nightmares... So I must ask, where are the other Mollies? Can you guys help me out by telling me who has whose book?

This is such a colourful and fun group, I would like to see it in full swing again. Please leave a comment to this post with a list of which books each of you have.

Meet Reggie!

LEROY — Reggie is on his way to becoming even more famous.

For the past three years, Reggie has been the center of attention at the children's farmyard at the Mower County Fair.

His likeness also graces a poster found in the beer garden at the fair, advising patrons, "Don't be a hog, drink responsibly."

He's also been in an ad for Featherlite Trailers that proclaims, "Reggie rides anything … but he prefers Featherlite Trailers."

Now, he's on his way to making the record books. He and his caretaker, Peter Marx, drove up to the Minnesota State Fair on Wednesday, and Reggie took his place in the swine barn as the state's largest boar.

Not only is Reggie the largest boar for 2010, he's the largest boar in the state fair's record books. He weighs a whopping 1,450 pounds. That's almost as much as most adult horses.

The previous state record was set in 1994 by a boar that weighed 1,340 pounds, said Breanne Schuette, a state fair spokeswoman.

Reggie could be the first hog from Mower County to win the statewide competition, Schuette said. None of the state fair's records show a previous winner from Mower County.

"It is one of the things that is something of a tradition. People go down to the swine barn to see the biggest boar," said Schuette.

Each year, contenders for the title come from county extension directors, who notify the state fair if they've got a boar with the heft to compete. The boars have to be weighed on a state-certified scale before they can enter the contest.

Marx said keeping Reggie isn't much of a challenge. Reggie's diet consists of a five-gallon pail of corn and soybean meal each day. Marx said that's about 20 to 25 pounds of food. Reggie gets out for some daily exercise. Handling Reggie isn't that hard, but it's nearly impossible to force him to move. Marx uses gates and food to coax the porker into going where Marx wants him to go.

Reggie will come home after the state fair and will likely be back at the Mower County Fair Children's Farmyard next year. He will probably live out the rest of his life on the farm, Marx said.

Marx said Reggie's been in the running for the title a couple years before now, but was always bested by hogs that had more heft. Now, it's his turn.

Mower County Fair Secretary Neal Anderson said Reggie is like one of the family.

"It's exciting for the Mower County Fair," Anderson said. "This pig is a local celebrity, and now he gets time in the spotlight."

I try to use my cartoon style plus few background colors for
my new drawing, the outcome seems not bad :p

This is the moleskine from Fatma and all of us illustrated
in different styles. It looks cool that various artist styles
can all be intergrated in same book.

I hope everyone is doing ok... Just checking in again to see where books are at. I'll give everyone till the end of the week to give us an update and then start contact via flickr individually. I saw a while ago that dear executioner has finished Fatma's book.

What about all the other books.... Cavidanny and I are still waiting on books for this group.

I am just curious if this group is still activating? Or anyone who is still want to rotate may be just leave some replies here so that we can see how to continue this group.

Or Michael, does my book already sent to somebody else or otherwise only we 2 continue? I really have no idea how this group will be working :(

Finally my angel drawing is done! The watercolor outcome
is not too bad though I find the flow of watercolor pigment
is somehow different from those watercolor paper :p

So I clear all the books in this group on hand, and I am waiting
for the up-coming books and drawings from other members ~

Cavidanny moly has arrived safe and sound in the USA!!! I will hopefully have it done within the next week and half while I am on vaction. I have some other moly's to get to first but I am aiming to finish this as well.

For my drawing this time I try to use the theme "civilization"
to apply my line drawing to tell how time tells our history and
the monkey witness the whole process~ (I am cast as human
being :p)

I may still need some modification to complete this drawing.

For my first moly cover I try to apply pastel as a media as it
seems no other cover using the skills, so I try to make some
fun with it~

The powder looks stands out enough yet it is too easy to
come off from the matted surface, finally I use some shiny
protective layer to cover it.

For the inner cover I use the cartoon drawing style which
is also one of my styles for cartoon series.

I leave some interactive area to you all to put your country
stamp here .. you see, we are living in same global village!

Wow wow wow, I got the envelope sent by Dear Executioner
when I was still enjoying the sunshine on my bed on Sunday
morning ... what a big surprise!!

Very special cover page, a bit of spooky feeling :p

Cyber + scientific comic feeling comes into my mind immediatly!

The art from Dear Executioner is done mainly by
fine line + marker which gives me a strong impression,
especially the eyes of the terminator-like-executioner
(I guess :p)

I still need to take some time to digest this interesting
story and see how should I continue. Oh wait ... I still owe
my start-late-moly to Michael :p I have to buy my moly
and start my art tonite~

Let me say welcome all my new moly friends here! I am so exciting that we will have lots of fun via design intercourse this time~ Thanks globalization!

My name is Calvin and you can call me Cavi. I studied in an art college and then work in a Japan listed toy company as a toy and game designer. Because of my work I love to express my ideas visually.

My home town is Hong Kong which is quite a well developed city in Asia. I start to post my drawing in Flickr and Blogger 1/2 year ago, after I noticed them, to share my feelings and drawings to different friends worldwide.

I like all kinds of drawing, handcraft, scientific stories, detective stories, comics, TV games, comedies and live shows especially "The American next top model" and "The Apprentice". Recently I have joined Moly_x_44 apart from Mole_x41, start my Etsy shop, and also start the MBA course, apart from my design job. I hope I have enough time to manage all these together :p

So happy that we are doing something interesting here together~

I am a high school photography teacher and I live in southern ca. This is my 4 or 5th moly group I am currently in and they are keeping me quite busy. I love listening to music, going to concerts, monster movies and my current fav t.v. shows are house, csi, cosby show, bones and heroes.
I am an art education graduate w/ a b.a. (emphasis in photo and computer design) and I hope to get my masters. I hope that is a good introduction for all of my new moly friends.

this is my first post here and i'm a bit undecided about what i have to write in...

well, i think that a presentation of myself could be a good way to "break the ice" (i'm not sure if you have this saying in your languages... anyway, in italy we say that when you have to "break" an embarrassing situation). my name is Andrea and i live in the north west of Italy, in a small town about 50 kilometers from Turin. i'm 26 y.o. and i'm graduate in Advertising.

i really dig sci-fi and horror movies, all kind of monsters, toys, comics, and cartoons. i've an addiction for Star Wars and my imaginary friend is Chewbacca. i think these are almost the most important things you have to know from me, but well, in the case you need more infos or if you are so curious, feel free to drop me a line! :-)

My name is Tiffany and I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota with my partner and our four cats. I recently completed my art degree after many years of taking time off and trying to determine my purpose in life. I'm not sure that I ever came to a conclusion, but along the way I developed an intense love for art. I have my moly and hope to get started in it as soon as I get confirmations from everyone. I am very excited to see what everyone has in store. I look forward to officially meeting you all!

Moly_x_41 is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange, founded by Fatma Roxy (The Netherlands). This blog will follow the adventure of a group of artists around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange. Our current group includes the artists listed to the right, including contributors in the US, Canada and Colombia.

Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (2.5 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artists around the world. Each artist has a month (give or take) to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

The concept:

1. The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.

2. Each artist gets 1 month to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right. If you ever need to update addresses, please feel free to contact your partners directly! An important part of this project is to discuss and exchange information and ideas.

3. Each artist will do 2-3 pages each round.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful.

5. When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she/he will simply keep her/his book when it comes back to her/him. She/he should email all of the participants to say she/he is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialog. Any comments and questions are welcome.
